BOSTON – Suffolk softball is set to return to action Sunday, March 24 when it meets Roger Williams at Rotch Field. The doubleheader is set to begin at 2 p.m.

Suffolk softball concluded action at THE Spring Games Thursday, March 14 in a 9-1, six-inning setback to Arcadia at Fortune Road.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk went 4-6 over its Spring Break trip to Florida and will take the diamond for the first time in New England this weekend. 

Constance Phelan has been a spark, in the field, in the circle and at the plate this season. The sophomore bats a team-high .444 with eight hits to her credit. On the rubber, she has twirled a staff-high 23.1 innings, sat down 11 batters and boasts a 3.60 ERA. 

To go along with Phelan's arm, Hannah DelCervo (8.0 IP, 2.63 ERA, 4K) and Kennedy Reyes (22.1 IP, 15K, 4.07 ERA) add depth in the circle.

Caitlin Murphy made the most of her first 10 collegiate games as the freshman leads the way in hits (12), runs scored (7), stolen bases (3) and walks (6) behind a slash line of .414/.514/.517.

HAVE TO KNOW 'BOUT THE HAWKS
Roger Williams split its Florida trip, 5-5, and a home-opening doubleheader with Coast Guard to head into Sunday's showdown 6-6 on the season. 

Three every day starters are hitting over .400 in Sydney Provencal (.469), Elizabeth Lombardo (.455) and Alexis Romano (.429). Lombardo has a team-high 20 hits, nine RBI and nine runs scored, while Provencal and Romano have each produced 15 hits. 

Pitching wise, five different arms have taken the circle for the Hawks this season. Lia Nocella boasts a staff-best 1.86 ERA and an unblemished 5-0 mark over 26.1 innings and an impressive 20 strikeouts. Alyssa Murray is also a consistent in the circle with 25.0 frames of action under her belt, a 2.80 ERA and nine Ks.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk is undefeated all-time versus Roger Williams, 3-0.
  • The Rams will take on the Hawks for the first time under Jaclyn Davis' guidance and first since 2004.
