UMass Dartmouth Shutouts Softball in Five Innings

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth were too much for Suffolk softball as the Rams fell 10-0 in five innings at Fortune Road at THE Spring Games Thursday afternoon.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | UMass Dartmouth 10
RECORDS: Suffolk (4-5) | UMass Dartmouth (6-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first, UMass Dartmouth piled on the runs in the second. Behind a two-RBI single from Maddie O'Grzeyk and a two-RBI triple by Kyle Fletcher, the Corsairs grabbed a 4-0 lead.

UMD put up three runs in the third and fourth frames, respectively, to turn its advance to 10 runs.

With its back against the wall, the Rams had to get on the board to erase the run rule decision. The Corsairs retired the side in the home half of the fourth to keep the 10-run game in tact for Dartmouth, who added another run in the fifth.

Now down 11, the blue-and-gold could not rally around Riley Mulligan's two-out double in the bottom of the fifth and the run-rule remained in the Corsairs favor.
