William Paterson Walks Past Softball, 4-3

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - A bases loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth proved to be the difference for in the Suffolk softball, William Paterson midweek matchup as the Rams slipped to the Pioneers, 4-3, Wednesday morning at Fortune Road at THE Spring Games.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 3 | William Paterson 4
RECORDS: Suffolk (3-4) | William Paterson (5-2)

HOW IT HAPPEND
Suffolk erased a two-run hole deficit, which William Paterson built in the bottom of the second, with three runs in the top of the third. Constance Phelan started the base-hit rally that saw three Rams collect a single of their own. Kelly Keane and Grace Boehler each produced a RBI in the string of hits before the Pioneers made a change in the circle. With runners in the corners, Boehler went to steal second, but was caught in the act. In the meantime, Keane took advantage of the throw down to score the go-ahead run.

The playing field was leveled once again in the home half of the third as Christine Griffith knocked a two-out deep triple to left field and strutted in on Andee Lupica's base-hit to left.

A stand still ensued with both teams getting their chances, but neither cashing in until the Pioneers regained the edge in the bottom of the six. In a bases loaded situation, two-out situation Alexis Bonilla worked her way out of a 2-0 count and turned it full. The freshman's throw went just off the plate line, which let WP walk in the eventual winning run.

With Suffolk's backs against the wall and two outs on the board Boehler faced a 3-2 count of her own. The sophomore left fielder kept the Rams alive with a single through the right side. William Paterson kept the comeback quiet as shortstop Sydney Pace backhanded McKenzie McGrath's hit to seal the Pioneers winning fate.
