Softball Positional Preview: Outfield

BOSTON – As the 2018 Suffolk softball first pitch – set for Saturday, March 10 in Clermont, Florida, versus Geneseo at THE Spring Games – looms, GoSuffolkRams.com will give Ram Nation an insider's look at each position. The second installment gives a glimpse at Suffolk's outfield.

The Rams 2018 outfield will have speed, power and most importantly experience with all three everyday starters back in the lineup in Devlin Frost, Sydney Littlefield and Ashley Zulla

Frost has started all 129 games she has appeared in throughout her career including each of Suffolk's 46 last year, and looks to reprise the starting role in center as a senior captain this season. Her nearly flawless .956 fielding percentage and 14 outfield assists complement a high-contact and disciplined bat at the plate. Thanks to her ability to get on base, reaching the bags at a .387 clip, Frost scored a team-high 43 runs to go along with 53 hits on a .335 batting average for 32 RBI.

Zulla made her presence known in right field as a freshman and looks to improve upon her numbers – 53 hits, 30 runs, 18 RBI, .402 batting average – in her sophomore season in 2018. Zulla got her hits in bunches last season with 19 multi-hit games.

In left, Littlefield is coming off a career campaign of 28 hits, 21 runs scored, nine RBI, and six stolen bases. She showed a steady bunting ability with four sacrifices. She started 38 games as a junior.

Underclassmen – sophomore Sam Jacques and freshmen Grace Boehler and Hailey Cockroft – give the Rams more depth in the outfield.
