Sylvester Scores Louisville Slugger/NFCA DIII National Player of the Week

BOSTON – Delaney Sylvester of the Suffolk softball team added more hardware to her growing collection as the junior picked up Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Player of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon. 

The accolade marks the third weekly honor of Sylvester's junior season and the first-ever national recognition by a Ram in the program's 33-year history. In a 7-0 week for Suffolk, the Worcester, Massachusetts, product hit .715 with eight runs scored, four walks, two doubles, three jacks, and 10 RBI. Her stellar offense, which featured a 1.998 OPS, transferred to her perfect defense, collecting 31 putouts and one assist behind the plate. 

Sylvester, who has took home GNAC Corivas Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks,  buoys Suffolk's offense with slash line of .423/.474/.707 with 52 hits including 11 doubles and eight homers, for 34 RBI and 24 runs scored. 

On the heels of the recognition, Sylvester and Suffolk turn their sights to the 2017 GNAC Tournament where the third-seeded Rams head to Standish, Maine, for second-round action against sixth-seeded Norwich Thursday, May 4.
