FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Suffolk softball team extended its win streak to 11 thanks to a 5-3 extra-inning victory over Framingham State in extra innings at Maple Street Field Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first, Suffolk punched the first run on the board in the top of the second. Delaney Sylvester led off with a single to right field and was moved around the bags thanks to Framingham State error and back-to-back sacrifice hits, first a bunt from Lindsay Pagano and came in on a sac fly from McKenzie McGrath, to make it a 1-0 Suffolk score.
Ali Yamakaitis and the Rams got out of bases loaded, one out jam with a fielder's choice to home and the junior twirler fanning Mycala Moody swinging to maintain the one-run lead after two complete innings.
A pitcher's duel ensued from there before the Framingham Rams made up ground in the home half of the fifth. With the bags full, Kylie Boyle's single to left tied the game and the hosts grabbed a 3-1 advantage thanks to Lauren Salisbury two RBI double to left with two down.
Suffolk looked to make up ground in the sixth, but stranded one, and it all came down to the seventh. Jaclyn Flint knocked a double to left to get the rally going. Two batters later and two outs on the scoreboard, Devlin Frost kept the Rams alive with a single to center and Jill Pulek loaded the bases with a walk. FSU brought in fresh arm Kelsi Gunarathne, but she gave Sylvester a freebie on a walk, bringing in one run in the process. Evelyn Marquis's single to left scored Frost to level the playing field. Pulek came home on the play, but was caught at the plate to keep things even at 3-all.
Despite two walks Suffolk held Framingham to send the contest into the eighth. Marquis was placed on second and Pagano pushed her over on a 63 ground out. After McGrath reached on a fielder's choice, Morgan Parmeter brought Marquis in on a single to center. Flint stretched the Rams' edge to two thanks to a double to center, her second hit for two bases on the day, to make it a 5-3 Suffolk game.
Behind Flint in the circle, the blue-and-gold retired the side to secure the 5-3 victory.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Flint was the lone Suffolk player to contribute multiple hits with the sophomore's two going each good for two bases. She added one RBI and one run to her stat line.
- Sylvester, Zulla, McGrath, Frost, Marquis and Parmeter all produced one hit in the win with Sylvester, Marquis, McGrath and Parmeter collected one RBI in the outing.
- Marquis, McGrath, Sylvester and Parmeter each scored one run for Suffolk.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Flint picked up the win inside the circle for Suffolk. She dealt 3.0 scoreless innings and sat down two batters.
- In the start, Yamakaitis gave up three runs on five hits and four walks to go along with three Ks.
- Gunarathne suffered the defeat for the Framingham Rams as the starter threw 6.1 innings, allowed one run on six hits and four walks.
- Jessica Pietersen took the circle for 1.2 frames, giving up two runs on two hits.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk went into extras for the third time this season.
- The Rams are 4-8 when needing more time to complete a game under Jaclyn Davis and 2-1 this year.
- Suffolk extended its win streak to 11 straight, the most since matching that number April 1-12, 2015.
