BOSTON – The Suffolk softball team barreled eight homers in a five-inning 17-6 offensive onslaught over Lasell in the series opener Sunday afternoon at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After Lasell put up one run to open the contest, Ashley Zulla righted the wrong with a blast over the center field fence. The freshman brought in lead-off hitter Sydney Littlefield, who found the gap behind second record a single and snipped second during her fellow outfielders at bat. Two batter later, Jill Pulek's single to left field scored Jaclyn Flint, who reached on a Laser's error, and the designated hitter ran home on a jack from Delaney Sylvester that stretched Suffolk's edge to 5-1.
The Lasers made a change in the circle with Lydia Lewis-Hicks taking over for Krystel Enko and the fresh arm retired fanned the next three Rams to keep things at four-run game after one frame.
Suffolk sent two shots in the bottom of the third to bring in three runs and make it an 8-1 contest.
The fourth inning turned into the homerun derby as four different Rams knocked it out of the park to stretch the distance to 17-1 after four complete innings.
Hannah DelCervo took over the circle and the Lasers took advantage of thee fresh arm, scoring five runs in the final frame for the final 17-6 tally.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Eleven different Rams recorded a hit to contribute to the team's 16 with eight different players going yard.
- Pulek (3-3), Parmeter (2-2), Sylvester (2-2) all were perfect at the palte with Pulek and Sylvester both knocking two blasts.
- Pulek led the way in RBI with four on her stat line with three runs scored, while Flint and Sylvester contributed three RBI apiece.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Taylor Holmes picked up the win inside the circle. The junior tossed 4.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
- DelCervo dealt the last inning, giving up five runs (four earned) on three hits with one K and three walks.
- Enko suffered the setback, letting up five runs (four earned) in less than a full inning.
- The Lasers used two others arms in Lewis-Hicks and Leah Shaw.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk produced multiple home runs for the sixth time this season.
- The Rams tied the most homers in a single inning in the bottom of the fourth with four balls going over the fence. Just two other DIII schools have accomplished the feat with Suffolk becoming the first to do so since 2013.
- Suffolk's eight home runs are the most across NCAA DIII in 2017 and mark the highest jacks in a single game by a DIII school since April 23, 2016 when Rowan matched that number.
- The Rams are just the fifth program in NCAA DIII history to produce eight homers in a single game.
- Eucalitto recorded her collegiate homerun in the outing.
