Softball Game 2 at USJ Suspended Due to Rain

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Suffolk softball team's nightcap at St. Joseph (Conn.) was called at the bottom of the third due to inclement weather and field conditions at USJ Softball Field Wednesday night with the Rams leading the Blue Jays, 7-4.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 7, USJ 4 – After 3 Innings

HOW IT HAPPENED
Back-to-back base on balls opened the game for the Rams and two ground outs brought the runners in to quickly make it a 2-0 Suffolk game.

Suffolk put two more runs on the board in the second inning. Once again a walk started things off with Lindsay Pagano taking first and advancing to second on a wild pitch. After a ground out, Karina Miranda knocked a double to right center to plate Pagano. Two hitters later, Ashley Zulla put her own double into right field to bring Miranda around the bases and stretch Suffolk's edge to four after 1.5 frames.

For the third straight inning the Rams reached on base thanks to walks. With Delaney Sylvester and Jaclyn Flint on first and second, Pagano pushed the runners over with a sac bunt. McKenzie McGrath brought Sylvester home with a single to center before Sydney Littlefield's single to short scored Flint. A Blue Jays error let McGrath strut home to put the visitors ahead 7-0.

USJ got its offense going in the home half of the third, scoring four runs to make it a 7-4 game before the game was called.
