WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Trailing by three runs heading into the seventh inning, the Suffolk softball team brought two runners in, but could not complete the comeback as the Rams fell 5-4 at St. Joseph (Conn.) at the USJ Softball Field Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With one down in the bottom of the first, Jaclyn Flint sent a blast over the left field fence to open the scoring on either side. The Blue Jays answered with a five-run home half of the inning and the score stood still over the next two frames.
Jill Pulek joined Flint in the homerun club with one of her with one out in the top of the six to trim the margin to three after six complete innings.
With their backs against the wall Suffolk made moves in the seventh. Thanks to an error by USJ pinch hitter Dylan Parsons reached first. Two batters later and one out with Morgan Parmeter running the bases for Parsons Ashley Zulla pushed a double to center field to make it a two-run game. After a ground out for the second down of the frame, Pulek put her own double into play to score Zulla. Trailing by one Delaney Sylvester's grounder to short was swiped up to lock up the 5-4 win for the Blue Jays.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Flint and Zulla had identical stat lines of 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run apiece. The former knocked a shot out of the park, while the latter produced two double.
- Pulek had a 2-for-3 day with both hits going for extra bases, a double and homer, respectively. The designated hitter collected two RBI and scored one run.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Ali Yamakaitis dealt 6.0 innings, letting up five runs on six hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
- Amaria Sharon earned the win with a complete-game, four-run (two earned), seven-hit, two-strikeout effort.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk registered multiple homeruns for the fifth time this season.
- Pulek's sixth homer of the season puts the sophomore in a tie for third all-time with Sylvester on Suffolk's career list with 14.
