Holmes Wins Vote, Named HeroSports DIII Pitcher HERO of the Week

HEROSPORTS RELEASE

BOSTON – Suffolk softball's Taylor Holmes added more weekly accolades to her growing collected as the junior won this past week's national poll conducted by Herosports.com as the Pitcher HERO of the Week in Division III softball.

Holmes was nominated for the honor Wednesday on the heels a complete-game shutout effort at Emerson March 30 and her first GNAC Corvias Pitcher of the Week accolade of her career. The right handed pitcher beat out her competition, grabbing 58.7 percent of the votes, more than 97 than the second-place finisher with 290 of the near 500 submitted.

The Ashford, Connecticut, native took home the award on the strength of her eight-hit, four-walk, nine-strikeout, 8-0 cleansheet over the Lions. The nine Ks mark a career-high for the 5-foot-2 twirler, who tossed her second complete-game of her career and first-ever seven-inning, complete-game affair.

Holmes and the Rams now turn their sights to GNAC play as Suffolk is set for conference doubleheaders against Johnson & Wales and Emmanuel this weekend.
