BOSTON – Ashley Zulla of the Suffolk softball team has been named the GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week after batting 0.625, slugging 1.375 and putting together a 0.667 on-base percentage during a doubleheader at Salem State Saturday, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

In game one, Zulla, put together a 2-for-4 effort, featuring her first collegiate triple with one run scored and one run brought in. She upstaged her then-career highs with new career-bests in the nightcap. The freshman from Columbus, New Jersey, went 3-for-4 at the dish, rocking a three RBI homer in the 11-6 triumph over the Vikings. She crossed home three times and sniped two bags, both career highs, in the victory.

Zulla is the second Ram this season to be recognized by the conference with Ali Yamakaitis bringing home the best pitcher over a seven-day stretch, the first Ram in the Jaclyn Davis era to do so, March 13.

Suffolk and Zulla are back in action Thursday, March 30 as they head to Emerson for a twin bill. Game 1 is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
