Yamakaitis Earns GNAC Corvias Pitcher of the Week

BOSTON – In the first week of action, Ali Yamakaitis threw her way to GNAC Corvias Pitcher of the Week with the junior twirler going 2-0 in a pair of starts with a 0.54 ERA the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

Yamakaitis, who takes home the honor for the first time in her collegiate career, is the first Rams' hurler to be recognized as the league's pitcher over a seven day stretch in the Jacyln Davis era and the league's in the record books, which date back to the 2009 season. 

In the season opener, Yamakaitis was behind Suffolk's upset over No. 24 Central. The rightie allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out three batters in a 6.0 innings of work. A day later, the Avenel, New Jersey, product, put together a complete-game, three-hit shutout 3-0 win, which featured five Ks, over Eastern Connecticut State. 

Yamakaitis and the Rams will return to the diamond tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12 under the lights against Wisconsin La Crosse and Puget Sound.
