Delaney Sylvester Named an NFCA All-Region selection

Suffolk University Softball freshman Delaney Sylvester (Worcester, Mass.) was a second team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region selection for the Northeast for the 2015 season.

Sylvester finished the year hitting at a .402 batting average (51-for-127). She led Suffolk with a .614 slugging percentage which accounted for 16 extra base hits on the season. She was second among all Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) players with a team-high 37 runs batted in.

She knocked in 23 runs in 22 GNAC contests on the year as she hit .479 in conference play, which included 35 hits on the season.

Sylvester was also a first-team All-Conference selection by the GNAC as a catcher for the 2015 season. Sylvester had multi-hit games in 18 of the 40 in which she has played in during the 2015 season. She was named the GNAC Rookie of the Week on April 13. Sylvester hit .476 (10-21) with a .478 OBP, .810 slugging percentage, nine RBI and six runs scored over that six game stretch. Sylvester had multi-hit games in four of the six contests, including a 3-for-4 performance in their win over the University of Saint Joseph. Sylvester also led the team with four home runs on the year.

Suffolk finished the 2015 season with a 25-16 overall record, their highest win total since the 2006 season. Suffolk ranks 33rd among all NCAA Division III nationally with a .342 overall batting average. Suffolk finished the season with a 17-5 record in GNAC play as they had a league high win total in conference play. They also qualified for the ECAC Division III New England Championship tournament advancing to the semifinal round.
