Softball Splits With Albertus Magnus on Sunday

The Suffolk University Softball team split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader at Albertus Magnus College on Sunday afternoon.

Suffolk took game one 6-4 before dropping game two 3-0 snapping their seven game winning streak.

Senior Nicole Rosa (Wallingford, Conn.) and freshman Delaney Sylvester (Worcester, Mass.) each collected three hits in the opener to help pace a 10-hit attack.

Suffolk jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first when senior Sarah Chasse (Salem, Mass.) helped out her own cause driving a base hit back up the middle to bring in a pair of runs for the quick two run lead.

Sophomore Lindsay Pagano (Wyckoff, N.J.) would add to the lead in the third with an RBI single before Sylvester drove in two more in the fifth. Sylvester would add  an insurance run in the seventh inning collecting her third RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly.

Chasse went the first five innings on the mound to earn her fourth victory of the season. She would give way to freshman Kathleen Slavin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) who pitched the final two innings for the save.

In game two, freshman Samantha Maselli (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) held Suffolk to just six hits as the Falcons managed to blank Suffolk 3-0.

Sylvester added two more hits in game two to finish the day 5-for-6.

The split moves Suffolk to a 7-5 overall record on the season and 3-1 mark in GNAC play.

They will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Anna Maria College.
