Men’s Cross Country Hosts Suffolk Invitational, Battle for Boston Commons Saturday

BOSTON – Suffolk men's and women's cross country puts on its hosting hat this weekend for the Suffolk Invitational Saturday, Oct. 14 at Franklin Park. The outing will not only serve as the final prep for the upcoming 2023 CCC Championship but will also pit the Rams against their Beantown foes Emerson in the Battle for Boston Commons. The women's 6k begins the even at 1:30 p.m. with the men's 8k following an hour later. All the action can be followed live here

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk men's cross country put together a 13th-place performance at the Blugold Invite at Whitetail Golf Course Friday.

THE DISTANCE
Suffolk's women's will run a 6k with the men competing in an 8k.  

THE COMPETITION
The 2023 edition of the Suffolk Invitational is the largest to date with 620 athletes from 32 schools.  

On the men's side there are four regionally ranked teams with six women's squads ranked regionally. In addition, Division I UMass Lowell and Division III American Int'l College will be in attendance. 

COACH'S QUOTE
"This weekend is one of the highlights of the cross country season for our program," head coach Will Feldman said. "It's the closest thing we have to home coming as we will have several alumni in attendance including former captain Justin Turner, who will be making his post collegiate cross country debut. We will also have a tailgate for families and alumni post-race." 

"After a strong showing in Wisconsin we feel great about our team, and know we're ready for strong showings at CCC Championships and regionals," Feldman said.

REGIONAL RANK
After a week idle, Suffolk men's cross country dipped to seventh in the East in the latest United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Rankings, the national organization announced Tuesday.

SUFFOLK'S SCHEDULE
