GENESEO, N.Y. – Suffolk men's cross country finished 21st at one of the most competitive cross country meets in 2021, Geneseo's 40th Mike Woods Invitational at the National Warplane Museum.

The 8k course featured saw some of the best men's cross country teams in the country race the Rams in No. 4 Geneseo, No. 17 Otterbein and No. 27 Middlebury. Suffolk, who has appeared in three straight United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional coach's poll, finished 21st in that 33-team field. Suffolk's team score of 525 came behind an average time of 27:35.2.

The Rams finish was thanks in large part to Matyas Csiki-Fejer, who was the runner-up in the field of 404. The Manchester, Missouri, native came through the finisher's chute in a personal-best 24:15.4, just three seconds behind individual winner Ezra Ruggles of Geneseo.

Connor Hayward completed the course in 27:24.3 to claim 125th, while Nic Malm's 27:35.8 was good for 134th.

Justin Turner and Thomas Novy finished one after another in 249th and 250th, respectively. The former clocked a 29:19.7, while the latter was just one second behind the junior.

Cole Bolduc and Luke Sikora kept pace with Turner and Novy as well to complete Suffolk's scorers in Geneseo, New York. Bolduc was four spots behind Novy thanks to his time of 29:25.9 and Sikora (29:26.3) was two runners after Bolduc.

Suffolk saw a handful of others compete on Saturday as well to prep for its own meet, the Suffolk Invite, which is on tap Saturday, Oct. 16 at Franklin Park. The Rams will also race Emerson in the annual Battle for Boston Common in two weeks.
