Csiki-Fejer Garners Third GNAC Rookie of the Week Nod

BOSTON – For the third time in his career Matyas Csiki-Fejer of the Suffolk men's cross country team has been named GNAC Rookie of the Week after putting together a runner-up showing at the Suffolk Invite Oct. 12, the league office unveiled Monday afternoon.

The freshman has taken home the honor three out of Suffolk's four active weeks this season. Overall, the St. Louis, Missouri native has picked up four conference accolades in his first-year in blue-and-gold as he swept the weekly awards date.

Csiki-Fejer buoyed Suffolk to third-place showing at the invite at Franklin Park on Friday, a field that featured 19 teams including five conference counterparts. Behind his 8K time of 27:055, he finished second out of 152 runners and notched the best time of any freshman and of any league foes. He was just 44 seconds shy of individual winner Tiffin's Stephen Korer.

Csiki-Fejer's time also led the way for Suffolk's perfect finish in the inaugural Battle for Boston Commons, a head-to-head meet with the Rams' neighbor Emerson.

After a week of rest, Csiki-Fejer and the Rams head to Standish, Maine, to run for GNAC glory at the 2018 conference championships hosted by the Monks of Saint Joseph's (Maine) at SJC Course.
