Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Performs at Sean Collier Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Suffolk men's outdoor track & field competed at MIT's Sean Collier Invitational Saturday at the Henry G. Stein Brenner Track. Four Rams posted personal bests and one student-athlete made their event debut.  

RAMS RECORDS

  • Two career-highs were reset in the 100 by Ioan Pereira and Brendan Eddy, who clocked a 11.81 and 12.44, respectively. 
  • Kely Maloney joined Suffolk's sub-2:00.0 club in the 800 with a personal-best of 1:59.23. 
  • Owen Campbell leapt to a 3.95 meters in the pole vault, a new career high.  

RAMS RUNNERS

  • In his last collegiate regular-season meet, Turner Mitchell turned in a 11.52 in the 100 to claim 21st in the 45-runner field that feature Pereira (11.81) and Eddy (12.44), both of whom logged personal bests. 
  • In the 200, Mitchell finished 28th behind a time of 23.54. Pereira was right behind him in 29th (23.55)Andrew Tansil (24.63) and Eddy (25.73) participated in the event as well. 
  • Tansil (56.22) and Matthew McGoldrick (59.59) both ran the 400. The former placed 20th and the latter took 25th. 
  • Tim Barry paced the trio of Rams in the 800 with a 1:59.87. Maloney finished in 1:59.23 and Evan Wright logged a 2:00.33. 
  • Four Suffolk student-athletes ran the 1500 in Sean Jacobsen (4:15.16), Connor Hayward (4:23.41), Conor Garrity (4:30.83) and Thomas Fidrocki (4:56.11).

  • McGoldrick ran a full lap around the track outdoors for the first time in his collegiate career. 

POLE VAULT POINTS

  • Campbell cleared 3.95 meters in the pole vault to capture fifth.  

WHAT'S NEXT?
Suffolk will compete for the Commonwealth Coast Conference crown this week with the championships scheduled to start Thursday, April 25 at Gordon with the men's and women's steeplechase. Action will then pick up Friday, April 26 at Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and will conclude Saturday, April 27.
