Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Takes 11th at Tufts Snowflake Classic

SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Suffolk men's outdoor track & field saw an individual champion, two personal records broken and a Rams' record reset as the team combined for an 11th-place performance at the Tufts Snowflake Classic Saturday at the Gantcher Center.  

Justin Turner made the most of his event debut in the 400 hurdles as he made the one-lap around the track in Suffolk record time of 1:06.19, good for 10th. He ran the regular 400 in 54.89 to lock up 24th. 

Luke Sikora put together a personal-best 800 of 1:59.39 to secure fourth in the 51-runner field that featured Kely Maloney, who finished in 2:00.87, good for seventh.  Evan Wright (2:02.47) and Selvin Backert (2:02.64) were just outside the top-10 in 11th and 12th, respectively. Nico Miele (2:10.51) represented the blue-and-gold in the event as well. 

Suffolk saw multiple student-athletes in the 100 and 200. Cole Bolduc secured points in the 200 with a fifth-place showing with a time of 23.72. 

Hayden Green crossed the 1500 tape in 4:08.28. Not only was it a personal-record for the Rams, but was the runner-up time in the field of 52 that featured Sean Jacobsen (4:18.91), Jadan Wenceslao (4:232.37), Connor Hayward (4:26.01), Jacob Dubin (4:27.58), Conor Garrity (4:32.65), Shea Duffy (4:32.98), Patrick Lambe (4:36.86), Thomas Fidrocki (4:48.82) and Zachary Martin (5:17.41).

Trey Maroon finished ninth in the 110 hurdles (18.70) where Mari Addison placed 16th (21.45). 

Brady Sorensen, who ran the 100, won the long jump with a leap of 6.58 meters. Kai Mohammed was featured in the 22-jumper field as well and produced a 4.90-meter jump. 

Suffolk saw three top-10 finishes in fielding events. Matthew Smith secured ninth in the discus (37.20), Frank Irizarry locked up ninth in the hammer throw (37.81) and Edward Abouzeid registered ninth in the javelin (44.10).  

The Rams return to action next weekend, Saturday, April 8 at Fitchburg State's Jim Sheehan Memorial invite.
