Men’s Track & Field Finishes Third at Regis Spring Classic 

WESTON, Mass. – The Suffolk men's track & field team put together a team score of 44 to place fourth in the 11-team Regis Spring Classic field Friday afternoon at Regis Stadium.  

With a number of stand-out showings, the best of the best came from freshman Maytas Csiki-Fejer, who topped the 800-meter, 31-runner field with a sub 2:00.00 time. The Saint Louis, Missouri, native clocked in at 1:59.80 to finish first. He was joined in the race by five others Rams including Joseph Robinson (2:08.72), Saliah Aiman (2:10.71) and Hunter Toyoda (2:10.74) who finished fifth through seventh, respectively, as well as Jonah Flores (2:13.75), who placed 14th.  

A pair of Rams runners appeared in the 1500-meter field as well in Nick Malm (4:29.71) and Kevin Torres (4:33.19), who finished one after another to take third and fourth, respectively

Suffolk concluded its competition in the track events in the 400-meter dash with Ben Cvitkusic, who's time of 1:03.76 was good for 10th, and Nicholas Nunez with an 18th-place showing in the in the 200-meter dash behind a time of 25.30. 

In the fielding events, Michael Balestra shined. The rookie topped the 12-man hammer throw field with a toss of 46.63 meters.  

BothMichael Power and Matt Sambuceti participated in the shot put and discus throw. Power was the highlight in the shot put with a 15th-place showing on a 9.91-meter toss with Sambucetti's 9.40 meter throw good for 19th in the field of 28, meanwhile in the discus, Sambuceti placed ahead of Power with a 26.69-meter distance, which put the junior in 13th out of 27. Power on the other hand was 0.54 meter short of Sambuceti's output with for a throw of 26.15 meter good for 16th out of 27 competitors.  

Robert Solari completed the blue-and-gold competitors in both the long and high jump. He finished third in both events. In the long jump, he recorded a 5.86-meter distance and in the high jump he skipped 1.73 meters.  

Suffolk is back in action tomorrow, Saturday, April 6 at Fitchburg State's Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational.
