Csiki-Fejer Garners First-Ever GNAC Weekly Honor in Men’s Track & Field History, Named Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – Suffolk men's outdoor track and field freshman Matyas Csiki-Fejer made history Monday after picking up GNAC Rookie of the Week status for his performance at the Tufts' Snowflake Opener over the weekend. The weekly accolade is not only a first for Csiki-Fejer, but for Suffolk's men's track & field program.

The Saint Louis, Missouri native booked his ticket to the regional tournament in the spring season opener for Suffolk in the 1500 meter. He crossed the Dussault Track tape in 4:00.15 to earn the berth to the regional tournament. His time not only gave him a third-place finish at the event, which featured 57 competitors, but ranks fifth across New England and 32nd in Division III this season.

Csiki-Fejer is no stranger to stand out accomplishments this year. In the fall, he earned NCAA DIII All-Region, GNAC Rookie of the Year, and All-GNAC First-Team honors while competing for the cross country team. He continued to show out in February when he became the first-ever male Ram to run at the NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field New England Regionals where he placed 11th out of 20 runners in the mile.

Csiki-Fejer and the Rams are back in action next weekend at the Regis Spring Classic Friday, April 5.
