Rams Represent on Inaugural All-GNAC Sportsmanship Team

BOSTON – In its first season as a varsity sport, Suffolk men's and women's track & field saw one Ram earned All-GNAC status with a pair of student-athletes garnering sports on the conference's all-sportsmanship team.  

The league's major award winners were selected by the league's head coaches, while each event winner at the inaugural GNAC Championships were automatically named to the 2018 All-GNAC Team. 

Suffolk sophomore Mariama Kamara made history at the conference championships. The Chelsea, Massachusetts's native put together a personal record of 12.77 to finish second overall, just 0.22 seconds behind Taymise Sanders of Newbury (12.55). As the top GNAC finisher, Kamara became the first-ever Ram to take home All-GNAC first-team honors.  

Emily Manfra and Matt Sambuceti represented the Rams on the all-league sportsmanship team, which was established to honor one player from each team in the league for outstanding dedication to sportsmanship and for their portrayal of good sportsmanship, fair play and positive attitude. 

Manfra has been a staple in Suffolk's long-distance events over her two years, making her name known on the cross circuit. Sambuceti, on the other hand, was a consistent as the Rams' field competitor throughout 2018.
