Track & Field Participates at Tufts Snowflake Classic

BOSTON – Over the week, the Suffolk outdoor track & field teams opened their schedule as the Rams competed at the Tufts Snowflake Classic.

The women's performance saw two top 10 finishes highlighted by Emily Manfra's third-place showing in the 800 meter run. The sophomore finished in 2:24.15 to grab third place in a field of 71 runners, which featured fellow Rams Michelle Kearney (3:03.29) and Natalie Fay (3:05.42).

Emma Weisse took ninth in the 1500 meter run that saw 91 runners behind a time of 4:52.39. Alison Espindola also represented the blue-and-gold in the 1500 m.

In the 100 meter dash, Mariama Kamara took fifth in qualifying as she crossed the finish line in 13.01. Dakhensey Marcellus put together a time of 14.90 in the 100 meter dash as well.

The eight women put together enough points for Suffolk to garner a team score in track in field for the first time in program history as the Rams finished 17th overall in a field of 21 competitors.

On the men's side, Suffolk participated in two track events and one field event.

William Phillips (25.05) and Nicholas Nunez (25.08) raced in the 200 meter dash, while Paulo Guedes (4:58.15) ran in the 1500 meter run. Matthew Sambucetti was the lone field entrant, competing in the shot put.

Suffolk is back in action this weekend as it heads to GNAC counterpart Regis for the Regis Invite Saturday, April 7.
