CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Suffolk men's indoor track & field took its talents across town Sunday to Harvard's Gordon Indoor Track for the USATF New Englagnd Indoor Championships. At the meet, four Rams posted a personal record.
RAMS RECORDS
- Evan Wright ran the 800 in a personal-best 2:00.49.
- Cam Fredette, Jacob Dubin and Sean Jacobsen wrote their names next to an elite group of blue-and-gold long-distance runners to clocked a sub-16:00.0 in the 5k, joining Matyas Csiki-Fejer, Thomas Novy, Tim Barry and Hayden Green. The trio of Fredette, Dubin and Jacobsen all ran a personal record in the event as well.
RAMS RUNNERS
- Wright's personal-best time of 2:00.49 in the 800 put the junior in 13th behind Suffolk's Luke Sikora (1:58.84) and Kely Maloney (2:00.09), who claimed 10th and 12th, respectively. Michael Najarian (2:25.28) and Thomas Fidrocki (2:25.96) were featured in the even as well.
- Fredette (15:46.91), Dubin (15:49.76) and Jacobsen (15:05.88) took 20th, 22nd and 23rd, respectively, in the 5k. Jadan Wenceslao clocked a 16:13.28 in the 5000 to finish 29th.
- Turner Mitchell (7.36), Ioan Pereira (7.70) and Jose Rivera (8.09) all sprinted the 60.
- Mitchell (24.05), John Avakian (24.40), Joshua Durand (24.44), Pereira (24.81), Joshua Catino (26.83) and Rivera (27.13) raced the 200.
- Avakian made one lap around the track in the 400 (55.95).
- Barry raced to 12th in the mile behind a time of 4:22.95. Connor Hayward (4:44.77) and Conor Garrity(4:53.50) ran in the event as well.
- Green secured 12th in the 3000 after crossing the tape in 9:07.03.
- Carter Nevulis was the 60 hurdles runner-up with a time of 8.64.
JUMPERS JIST
- Brady Sorensen (21-5.75) leapt to second in the long jump and Nevulis (20-6.5) was five spots behind him. Michael Frodelius (18-5.25) and Gavin Reid (16-11.5) participated in the event as well.
- Reid claimed fifth in the triple jump (37-8).
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Rams that qualified will compete at New England Division III Indoor Championships this weekend.
