BOSTON – Suffolk men's tennis begins its 2024 campaign Saturday, March 16 with a trip to Rhode Island College. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.

RAPID REWIND
Suffolk made the CCC Tournament for the first time in program history a year ago after going 2-6 in league outings. Overall, the Rams finished 3-8.  

WELCOME BACK
Suffolk brings back five letterwinners from a year ago including its ace Mehdi MeredLong-time Ram Hasan Esrawi returns as well as Zach DobbsMilind Kulkarni and Mikhail Reilly.  

RAMS ROOKIES
Suffolk men's tennis will have half a dozen new faces in 2024 as head coach Scott Blanchard brought in six rookies to the fold. 

The group is comprised of four true freshmen in Ishmam AminNicholas KomariAnders Ovren and Prakhar Singh-Sisodia, one junior, Conor Duggan, and one senior Daniel Haddad.

RAMS RINGLEADER
For the third consecutive campaign, Suffolk men's tennis will be led by captain Hasan Esrawi, head coach Scott Blanchard unveiled.

AT THE HELM
Scott Blanchard begins his third year at the helm of the men's tennis program. He is assisted by Drew Goldstein, the Rams' women's head coach.

FIRST SERVE

  • Suffolk sits 5-8 in the first match of the season since 2009. 
  • The Rams will look to reenter the win column on opening day after dropping the last six season starts. 
  • The last campaign-opening victory came on March 26, 2015 when the Rams got by cross-town rival Wentworth, 5-4.  

PRESEASON PREDICTIONS
Suffolk men's tennis has been projected to finish seventh in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Preseason Poll after a vote by the league's eight head coaches.

ANCHORMEN ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Rhode Island College started its season this fall with a 6-3 victory over Salve Regina Sept. 27.  

Noah Morin competed as the Anchormen's ace, while the tandem of Josh Brien and Jack Cadden teamed up as the top tandem. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk leads the all-time series dating back to 2009, 8-4. 
  • The Rams last victory over the Anchormen came via an 8-1 decision March 29, 2016. 
  • Suffolk looks to snap a four-match skid against RIC. 
  • The blue-and-gold has never defeated Rhode Island College under Scott Blanchard's guidance. The Rams are 0-2 versus the Anchormen in the Blanchard era.
