Men’s Tennis Picked Fourth in North in GNAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

BOSTON – In a vote by the league's head coaches, the Suffolk men's tennis team has been predicted to take fourth in the GNAC North Division, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Conference newcomer Regis toped the North division with 29 points behind five first place votes. Just four points behind the Pride is the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales, who collected a pair of first-place nods for 25 points. Norwich also picked up one first-place vote to take third with 13 points.

In the south, the reigning GNAC champion Ramapo was a unanimous first-place pick by all eight head coaches. Rutgers Newark slid in second (21) with Rutgers Camden (19) and Albertus Magnus (8) rounding out the south standings.

Suffolk will be under the guidance of head coach Steve Counihan and associate head coach Matthew Tiberii, who enters his first season with the Rams after serving as interim head coach of the women's squad this fall. The Rams are coming off a GNAC postseason appearance.

First serve of the 2018 season is scheduled for March 22 when the Rams entertain Wentworth.
