  • Men’s Tennis Pair Earns ITA Scholar-Athlete Honor

    For the first season since 2016, the Suffolk men’s tennis team saw a student-athlete recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for success in the classroom as freshman Ariel Ilarslan Russo and Rami Esrawi eared ITA Scholar-Athlete status, the organization announced Tuesday morning.

    Ariel Ilarslan Russo highlighted the Suffolk men’s tennis All-GNAC accolades as the freshman was tabbed GNAC Rookie of the Year in addition to a first-team nod, while sophomore Mike DeFelice earned a spot on the second team, the conference announced Wednesday.

    Ariel Ilarslan Russo of the Suffolk men’s tennis team picked up his second straight GNAC Corivas Rookie of the Week honor. The freshman earned the recognition, his third weekly honor of the season, after going unbeaten in his pair of appearances over a 3-0 week for the blue-and-gold.

    The Suffolk men’s tennis team looks to get back on track as it is set for non-conference clashes with Wheelock and UMass Dartmouth. The Rams will first host the Wildcats Wednesday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m., before entertain the Corsairs Thursday, April 19 at 6 p.m. Both non-league matches will take place at North Reading High School.
