BOSTON – The Suffolk men's tennis team fell in its season opener 7-2 to UMass Boston Thursday night at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons took a 2-1 lead into singles action. UMass grabbed a 3-1 advantage with a victory on the top court, but Omar Azzaoui trimmed the margin back to one with a victory in the third spot. The Rams could not complete the comeback, however, as the Beacons went on to grab the remaining courts for the final 7-2 margin.
SUFFOLK STANDOUTS
- The tandem of Azzaoui and Chris Parnagian picked up the first doubles point of 2017 with the freshman and sophomore taking down Onkgoptse Mokoka and Tin Tran 8-4 in the second slot.
- Azzaoui was the lone Ram to earn a singles point as the Miami Beach, Florida product took down Tran on the third court to remain unbeaten in his collegiate career.

Suffolk hits the road for the first time this season when it travels to Emerson for a 12 p.m. match Saturday, April 1.
