Men's Tennis Win Third Match of the Week

The Suffolk University Men's Tennis team edged out a 5-4 decision over the Bridgewater State University Bears on Thursday afternoon. With the victory Suffolk improves to a 5-1 mark on the 2014 season as they have now won three contests on the week.

Sophomore Calixto Romero and senior Drew Reilly (Boston, Mass.) were multiple winners on the afternoon. The duo partnered for an 8-6 victory in the top singles game.

Romero would later win his singles match with 6-3, 6-0 scores in the number one individual contest to improve his record to a perfect 6-0 on the season.

Reilly took the number two singles game with 6-2, 6-4 set victories in individual play.

After trailing 2-1 after doubles play, Suffolk would sweep the first four singles games to clinch the victory.

Senior Vasilli Stroganov (Hoersholm, Germany) took game number four with a 10-7 super tiebreak victory for his fifth win of the season.

Senior Aaron Lau (Hong Kong, China) clinched things when his win in game number three was the fifth Suffolk victory on the afternoon. Lau posted scores of 7-5, 6-3.

Suffolk will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Johnson & Wales University to take on the Wildcats at 1:00pm in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.
