UNITED SOCCER COACHES TOP 25 | UNITED SOCCER COACHES REGION II RANKINGS

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time in program history, Suffolk men's soccer picked up votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, the poll revealed Tuesday afternoon. Additionally, the Rams rose one spot to a program-best No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches Region II rankings.

Less than a month ago Suffolk made its program debut in the regional ranks in the fourth spot of Poll I, Sept. 12. Since that it has climbed up to second and made it is first-ever appearance in the national poll.

Bill Maddock's squad sits 7-3-1 on the season, the best ledger through 11 outings since 2006 when the blue-and-gold went 8-3-0. The Rams were enjoying their longest win streak of five consecutive triumphs until last night's 2-0 loss to ACC opponent Boston College.

Suffolk's success is twofold. The Rams second-best scoring offense in Region II has poured in 23 goals this season, while the blue-and-gold keepers of Xander Balog and Nathan Harlow have limited opponents to just eight markers en route to the best goal differential of the region.

Due to their success Suffolk has taken home more than just regional rankings this season as four Rams have combined for seven weekly accolades from the Commonwealth Coast Conference office, which ties a program-record for weekly awards in a single-season set by the 2016 team.

The Rams look to ride the momentum from the recognitions into the final leg of the season, which is solely conference based. Next up for Suffolk is a Saturday, Oct. 7 showdown with Nichols at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park at 3 p.m. That conference clash will serve as the blue-and-gold's Breast Cancer Awareness contest.
