Men’s Soccer Sweeps Weekly CCC Awards

CCC Release

BEVERLY, Mass. – Coming off its 2-0-0 week, Suffolk men's soccer swept the weekly Commonwealth Coast Conference awards as Diego Pierantozzi earned Offensive Player of the Wee and Nathan Harlow took home Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, the league office announced.

The multiple awards are a first for the Rams since they had a defensive player and rookie of the week over the same seven-day span Sept. 26, 2022, additionally, it is the first time in the CCC era that Suffolk took home all of the conference's weekly awards in a single week.  After further research, it marks the first time the blue-and-gold swept a league's weekly accolades in the program's history according to the week-by-week record books, which date through the 2009 campaign.

Pierantozzi's recognition comes as the sophomore produced a natural hat trick in the 4-1 CCC win at Endicott Saturday. He is the first player in blue-and-gold to record a natural hat trick since Djibril Niang did so in a 9-0 shutout over Rivier, Sept. 17, 2011, while the hat trick is a first for a Suffolk player since Christian Restrepo registered three goals in a 5-2 triumph at Emerson Sept. 6, 2017.

Harlow, meanwhile, defended the net for both of Suffolk's wins this week. He opened the action with a career-high seven-save effort in the 4-0 shutout over Mass Maritime Sept. 19, before compiling a four-save effort in the 4-1 triumph at Endicott Sept. 23.

The pair were instrumental to Suffolk starting its CCC calendar 2-0-0 for the first time in program history.

Overall this season, the Rams have been featured in every edition of the CCC weekly awards. Harlow made his collegiate debut Sept. 5 as CCC Defensive Player of the Week. He earned that same title this week, as well as rookie of the week, he is the second Suffolk student-athlete to bring home that feat this season, joining Francisco Valck, who picked up the recognition last week, Sept. 18. With three honors, Harlow is the most decorated Ram in a single season since Sunjoon Tenorio threepeated as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week from Oct. 8-21, 20219. Diego Pierantozzi's first collegiate weekly accolade marks the first time a Suffolk player received Offensive Player of the Week since the award was categorized that beginning in 2022. Xander Balog's Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 11 brings Suffolk's total to six through four weeks of play, the most weekly awards in a single season for the squad since 2016 when four Rams combined for seven weekly nods from the GNAC.

Suffolk rides a three-game win streak to three-game road stretch that features visits to MIT (Sept. 27), Hartford (Sept. 30) and Boston College (Oct. 2).
