Early Tenorio Goal Pushes Men’s Soccer over Mitchell, 1-0

EAST BOSTON – A Sunjoon Tenorio marker within the first 17 minutes proved to be the difference as Suffolk men's soccer team held out for a narrow 1-0 victory over Mitchell Monday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Mitchell 0
RECORDS: Suffolk (5-6-1) | Mitchell (1-9-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk produced the first golden chance of the game. Tenorioran down the right-wing and provided a cross to Sal Perrotto, who was in the middle to meet the low cross, but could not get his effort on target sending it over the cross bar.

The breakthrough came for the Rams in the 17th minute of play. From a Rams corner, Christian Venditti's swinging corner bounced in the penalty box where Tenorio was able to pounce on the ball to put the Rams ahead 1-0.

Mitchell would create a few chances following the goal, with a handful of free kicks from outside the box. The resulting effort were blasted into the defensive wall or over the bar.

Elias Parreira would get involved on an offensively with one-on-one drive. A smart pass from Leonardo Acosta set up the opportunity, but the Mariners goalie, Seth Strader, came up with a smart stop to maintain the 1-0 score line.

After the break, a long ball from center put the Mariners through on goal. However, Jackson Hines raced back to break up the play.

With 13 minutes left to play, Mitchell would look to level the scoring. First a dangerous cross in the six-yard box, followed by two shots from the 18-yard box, a header turned aside by Kyle Rosa and a wild effort over the bar.

Mitchell continued to look to equalize, but could not find an effort on target, and the final stood in the Rams' favor, 1-0.
