Emmanuel Spoils Rams Fan Fest for Men’s Soccer, 3-1

EAST BOSTON – On a day when Ram Nation filled the stands in support at the fifth annual Fan Fest event, two second have scores by Emmanuel were enough to put down Suffolk men's soccer, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park

HOW IT HAPPENED
Emmanuel attacked early and often. Two minutes into the match Robert Danielan had a chance to give the Saints the lead,a but his shot rebounded off of the top post out of harms way.  

In the 16th minute Suffolk had a chance to break open the scoring when Sunjoon Tenorio received a through ball from Leonardo Acosta. Tenorio was one-on-one with Emmanuel keeper Vincent Conelli inside the box, but his shot sailed wide of the net.  

Danielian put the Saints on the scoreboard in the 27th minute as the sophomore rattled off a shot to the top left corner of net past Rams goalie Tom Bennett. Thomas Roberts assisted on the play.  

Out of the break, the Saints had an opportunity to stretch their lead at the 55th-minute mark. Danielian gained control of the ball five yards out from the right goal post. Bennett made a sliding kick save though to keep the Rams within one.  

Five minutes later Suffolk tied the game at one as Tenorio lofted a ball to his classmate Emilio Tenacio, who jumped and shot it over his shoulder past Conelli. 

In the 80th minute Tenorio had a chance to give Suffolk the advantage. The Rams rookie gained possession of the ball inside of Emmanuel's defensive zone, but his sliding shot pushed just wide of the net.  

With the end of regulation looming, Kyle King put the Saints ahead in the 84th minute after he gained possession of the ball in the box and sent a rocket past Steven Lopez.  

King struck again with just over a minute remaining to seal the victory for the visitors.  

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • Bennett collected two saves in 72 minutes of action.
  • Lopez stopped one shot in eight minutes of relief
  • Conelli earned the win in net for the Saints with a four-save effort.    

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Tenacio scored Suffolk's lone goal with Tenorio assisting on the only Ram strike of the afternoon. 
  • The Rams held a 21-12 advantage in shots, including a 6-5 on net edge. 
  • The conference foes each had four corner opportunities.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • The Rams moved to 2-2-1 during the annual Rams Fan Fest event. 
  • Tenacio registered his second collegiate goal in as many games. 
  • Tenorio is on a two-game point streak. Over that stretch he has found the back of the net twice and set-up one shot.
