EAST BOSTON – With overtime looming,Sunjoon Tenorio found the back of the net in the dying minutes to help Suffolk men's soccer book its first win of the 2019 campaign, a 1-0 win over Lesley on Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams craved out a handful of chances in the first 15 minutes. The best chance coming from a Leonardo Acosta, cutting in from the left side and testing Lesley keeper Daniel Crutchfield.
Tides turned in the Lynx favor over the final 15 minutes of the first half when Jack Wadleigh's shot just sailed over the bar.
Both teams missed their opportunities and went into the half scoreless.
The second stanza began with the continuous back-and-forth battle. Open chances came on either end. Suffolk saw Simon Velez Angel pull a shot wide, while Lesye's Andrew Mederios tested Rams goalie Tom Bennett.
Suffolk piled on the pressure with 20 minutes to play. With shots from Tenorio, and Emilio Tenacio narrowly going wide.
A winning goal would come with just two and a half minutes to play from Tenorio. With the ball floating high in the air after a Tenacio header, Tenorio was the first to pounce firing his shot across the keeper into the right-side netting.
Time ticked away in Suffolk's favor and it went on to capture its first win of 2019.
KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS
- Bennett made two saves, to hold on for his shutout.
- Steven Lopez came off the blue-and-gold bench and played 16:32 in net for the Rams.
- Crutchfield made 10 saves while between the posts for the Lynx.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Rookie Rams put the point on the boards with Tenorio doing the scoring and Tenacio setting things up.
- The blue-and-gold held the advantage on shots 28 (11) – 7 (2).
- Suffolk had all eight corner chances on the afternoon.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk and Lesley met for the first time since 2017.
- The Rams rattled off their second straight win over Lesley to move to 3-7 in the all-time series, which dates back to 2009.
- Since 2009, Suffolk strung two victories over the Lynx together for the first time.
- The 1-0 result is the fourth in the Suffolk, Lesley series. The shutouts are split down the middle between the foes.
- Suffolk shutout the Lynx for the second time in the all-time meetings and first since a 1-0 cleansheet in 2012.
- Bennett produced his first shutout of his career.
- Tenorio and Tenacio registered their first collegiate points on a goal and assist, respectively.
