Perrotto Pushes Men’s Soccer Past Fitchburg State, 1-0, in Season Finale

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Sal Perrotto broke open a scoreless non-conference tilt in the 49th minute and it proved to be enough as David Haines stood tall in net to help Suffolk men's soccer take down Fitchburg State, 1-0, Wednesday night at Elliot Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams battled to a scoreless opening frame with Haines turning back seven Falcons shots on net, while Colby mason kept the Rams at bay with one save in the first half.  

Perrotto broke the tie just three minutes into the second stanza. Jordan Casey traveled down the left wing, centered through the ball to Perrotto, who deposited his second goal of the season for the 1-0 lead and the games only strike. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • Haines finished the contest with seven saves for his third win of the season and second straight shutout. 
  • Mason posted a pair of saves for the Falcons. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Perrotto accounted for the only goal on the evening with Casey picking up the assist. 
  • Fitchburg State held advantages in shots, 16-10.
  • Suffolk had the upper hand in corners, 4-2. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk leveled the playing field with Fitchburg State, tying the all-time series, which began in 1984, at two wins apiece. 
  • Perrotto put away his first game-winner of the season.
