Bennett Garners GNAC Goaltender of the Week

BOSTON – Tom Bennett of the Suffolk men's soccer team has been named GNAC Goaltender of the Week after his first collegiate start and win last week.

Bennett's first decision came with a career-high four-save effort as the freshman from Minnetonka, Minnesota, stopped 80 percent (4-5) of the shots he faced in a 3-1 complete-game triumph over Lasell Sept. 15.

Over the two-game week, he defended Suffolk's net for 102 minutes and put together a 0.88 goals-against average and a .833 save percentage, stopping five of the six attempts.

Bennett is the second Suffolk student-athlete to be recognized by the conference with a weekly award as classmate Leonardo Acosta was tabbed the league's best rookie week one of action Sept. 8. Bennett becomes the first set of Rams' gloves to take home the best keeper acknowledgement since Kyle Van Cleef took home the honor Sept. 12, 2016.

Suffolk and Bennett take the winning momentum on the road this week as the Rams are set to visit No. 17 Saint Joseph's (Maine) Wednesday, Sept. 19 for a 6 p.m. first kick.
