BOSTON – The Suffolk men's soccer team turns its attention to conference competition as the Rams welcome Rivier to James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park Saturday, Sept. 8 for their conference opener. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
A trio of second half goals from Plymouth State was too much for the Suffolk men's soccer team as the Rams fell, 4-1, Wednesday night at Arold Field.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk looks to snap a three-game skid with the 0-3 Rams still in the hunt for their first win of the season.
Over its first three games, Suffolk netted four goals, all from different players; Leonardo Acosta, Jordan Casey, Declan Mee and Tucker Mee. Acosta leads the offense with three points with one assist to go along with his one strike. Alex Desaulnier also picked up one point thus far with one handout.
David Haines has maintained the majority of time in net. The senior keeper, who has started each of the blue-and-gold's games, brings in a .750 save percentage and a 2.70 goals against average.
GNAC GATES
- Since 2002, Suffolk is 4-9-2 in GNAC openers.
- Suffolk's last win in the first game of the season came in 2016 with a 1-0 shutout over Albertus Magnus.
- Last season, Suffolk fell to Albertus Magnus, 2-1, to lift the lid on its conference calendar.
- Suffolk and Rivier will meet for the sixth in the league debut since 2002. In the previous five meetings, the Rams are 3-2-0. Suffolk and the Raiders last tangled in the first conference contest of the year in 2014, when the blue-and-gold won 2-1 in double overtime.
- Overall, five of the Rams GNAC openers have been decided in shutout fashion with the blue-and-gold boasting a 2-3-0 ledger in such contests.
DOUBLEFEATURE
For the first of four times this season, the Suffolk men's and women's soccer teams will compete on the same day in front of its home crowd. The men's game will kick things off at 12 p.m. with the women wrapping up the day against Regis at 3 p.m.
RAIDERS REVIEW
Rivier sits 0-2 on the year after being shutout at Clark (6-0) and Keene State (2-0) to open the year.
The Raiders offense has yet to find the scoresheet this season and only has three shots on target over the pair of games.
Collin Deyarmin has played the majority of time in net for Rivier. The junior keeper brings in a .731 save percentage to go along with a 3.79 goals against average.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Suffolk is 10-6-0 all-time versus Rivier dating back to 2002.
- Eight contests have been decided in shutout fashion in the series. In those meetings, Suffolk is 6-2.
- The Rams largest margin of victory against Rivier is nine with a pair of 9-0 cleansheets over the Raiders, which came in back-to-back seasons, 2009 and 2010, respectively.
- A game has never extended regulation in the series.
