BOSTON – The Suffolk men's soccer team closes September action with a Saturday (Sept. 30) showdown at East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Saratori Stadium against unbeaten GNAC foe Saint Joseph's (Maine). Kick off is set at 4 p.m., following Suffolk's women's 1 p.m. contest versus Norwich.

LAST TIME OUT
A goal scored by Tucker Mee with just under six minutes to play in regulation was the difference in the non-conference contest as the Suffolk men's soccer team bested MIT, 1-0, Wednesday night at Roberts Field at Henry G. Steinbrenner '27 Stadium.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Thanks to the program's first-ever win over MIT, in a series that began in 1984, Suffolk evened its overall record at 4-4. In conference contests, the blue and gold sit at 1-3 after dropping a 3-1 decision to Regis in its latest Sept. 23.
Suffolk's 15 goal offense is anchored by five from sophomore Christian Restrepo. The forward leads the Rams in points with 11 on his stat line thanks to one assist with his classmates, Felipe Ucros and James Fisher sitting second and third on the squad, respectively. Ucros' eight points are thanks to three strikes and two handouts, while Fisher has scored three goals and set up another for seven points.
The two-headed keeper tandem of sophomore Jon Brodeur and junior Kyle Van Cleef have defended the posts for the Rams this season. Brodeur enters Saturday with a 1.06 goals against average and a .750 save percentage for a 2-1-0 record, while Van Cleef sports a 1.74 goals against average and a a.763 save percentage.
MONKS MENTIONABLES
St. Joe's is unbeaten on the season with a 7-0-1 overall record and a 3-0-1 league ledger. The Monks have picked up the last three outings including a 4-0 win over Anna Maria Wednesday to prep for Saturday's outing.
The true story to SJC's success is the conference's favorite defense. Anchored by the league's top netminder, Blake Mullen. The junior has not allowed a ball past the goal line this season in over 660 minutes of action. The last GNAC player to score on Mullen was Suffolk's Alberto Bittan '16 in the conference's semifinals last season Nov. 1, 2016.
Offensively, Brett Mattos leads the way with 16 points on six strikes and four handouts. Mitchell Duncan (3-2-8) and Trevor Lopes (3-1-7) add to the effort.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- In a series that began in 2007, Suffolk trails, 4-7-1.
- The Monks have taken the last three meetings including a 5-1 victory over the blue and gold in the conference semifinals Nov. 1, 2016.
- Overall, six games have been decided in shutout fashion with SJC owning five of those victories.
- Two outings needed extra time to determine a winner. The monks took the last OT contest, a 1-0 decision in 2015. The first-ever overtime contest between the Rams and Monks ended in a 1-1 double OT stalemate.
