Restrepo Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – Christian Restrepo of the Suffolk men's soccer team was named the GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon, on the heels of a five point week. 

Following a two-assist effort against a powerful #24 Springfield Monday, Restrepo poured in the tying goal against Rivier and assisted on the game-winner Saturday to help Suffolk secure home field advantage in the quarterfinals of the GNAC tournament. 

The freshman from Everett, Massachusetts, aided to the Rams' most regular-season conference victories in the program's history (6) with a 13-point collegiate debut off four goals and five handouts. 

Restrepo took home his first weekly award of his career and the sixth of Suffolk's season as his classmate Jarrett Davis was tabbed the best rookie over a seven day stretch Oct. 10, Kyle Van Cleef earned the best goaltender nod Sept. 12 and Alberto Bittan has three player of the week accolades to his credit. 

Restrepo and the Rams wrap up their regular season at Dean Tuesday, Oct. 25, before vying for the conference crown as the tournament's fourth-seed Saturday, Oct. 29 versus fifth-seeded Albertus Magnus at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.
