Bittan Grabs GNAC Corvias Player of the Week, Again

BOSTON – Alberto Bittan of the Suffolk men's soccer team once again was tabbed the GNAC Corvias Player of the Week after an 11-point 2-1 week for the Rams the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

The forward picked up his third career weekly honor and second of the season thanks to scoring 55.6 percent of Suffolk's goals. After a scoreless affair versus Lesley to kick off the week Monday, Sept. 12, the senior scored twice in a 4-1 win at Pine Manor Wednesday and followed that performance with his second hat trick of the season Saturday, Sept. 17 in a 4-2 win over Regis. Bittan, who hails from Venezuela, is the first player in blue-and-gold to net two hat tricks in one season since Danny Lloyd scored a pair in 2010.

Bittan is the main reason that the Rams' 17-goal offense sits second in the league as he is responsible for 64.7 percent of the scores. The senior's 11 goals are not just the top in the league, but are leading all NCAA Division III with his 24 points also good for the best in the nation. He is tied with three other players for the most goals and one other student-athlete in points, but his nation-best 1.83 goals per game stands alone at the top.

Bittan and the Rams are back in action tonight as they look for their third straight win when they host Salve Regina at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park. Kickoff is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
