Emerson Blanks Suffolk 2-0

Beautiful goals from Ole Eriksen and Evan Eubanks combined with a ten save shutout performance from Carter Bowers led the Emerson Men's Soccer Team to a 2-0 win over their Boston Common rivals Suffolk Wednesday night. With the win the Lions improve to 3-5-3 on the year while Suffolk drops to 4-6 overall.

The first half saw all the scoring excitement on the night as the Lions fired away 15 shots in the half to Suffolk's 10. Ole Eriksen was first to strike on the night as a perfect pass from Alex Van Pelt saw Eriksen take the ball off his chest before a roundhouse shot that he banked into the left side of the net in the 30th minute of action.

The Rams weren't sluggish on offense though as they forced Emerson to put up six saves in the half to keep them off the scoreboard. EC fired back again at the Rams in the 36th minute of action though, this time with a long ball from Carter Bowers finding Evan Eubanks who put a perfect and lethal shot on goal to the back right corner to head into the break up 2-0.

The second half saw the squads get more physical as three of the four yellow cards on the night were given out as both teams pushed for control. While the Rams saw opportunities, they were unable to put away any of their six shots in the half as Bowers and the EC defense stepped up again for five saves to close out the shutout.

The Lions will remain at home for their next two games as they set to host the Coast Guard Bears on Saturday in NEWMAC action. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at Rotch Field in Boston, Mass.
