Men's Soccer Fall to Norwich 2-0

For the second straight game Norwich University men's soccer senior captain Chris Bristol (Clinton, Conn.) gave the Cadets the offensive spark they needed.

Bristol scored on a side volley just 2:24 into the match to help lead Noriwch to a 2-0 victory over Suffolk University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday night.

Sophomore forward Alec Brigante (Colchester, Vt.) notched his first of two assists on the game to give Norwich (4-3-1, 1-0-1 GNAC) a lead that it would never look back from.

Bristol also scored Norwich's first goal in its 9-0 win over Pine Manor on Tuesday night. He has three goals in his last two games and four total on the season now.

In the 24th minute, Norwich added to its lead when sophomore forward Jacob Zimmerman (Litchfield, N.H.) scored on a header off another assist from Brigante to make it 2-0 Cadets. The goal was Zimmerman's team-leading fifth of the year and gave the Cadets some breathing room that would prove valuable in the second half.

Suffok (1-5-0, 0-2-0 GNAC) had a golden opportunity to cut into the lead in the 61st minute when Ben Daniels had a penalty kick chance after a Rams player was taken down in the penalty box. Daniels tried beating Hallstrom to the right side of the goal but the NU keeper made a diving save to deflect the ball off the post and away from danger. The save was one of Hallstrom's seven in the game on his way to earning his second clean sheet of the season.

Suffolk continued to mount pressure for a majority of the second half, outshooting Norwich 14-3 in the final 45 minutes. However, Hallstrom and the NU defense stood tall to preserve the shut out.
