Rollins Leads Men's Soccer Past Regis 4-1

Senior Ben Rollins (Lee, N.H.) netted a pair of goals and added an assist as the Suffolk University Men's Soccer team opened the 2012 season with a 4-1 victory over the Regis College Pride on Sunday afternoon at Dilboy Stadium.

Rollins netted the first goal of the game 26 minutes into the contest as he and sophomore Djibril Niang (Dakar, Senegal) broke off on a two-on-one. Rollins put home Suffolk's first goal of the season.

Regis evened the game two minutes later as junior Nick Tavares (Bellingham, Mass.) put home a header that started off of a corner kick from sophomore Ricardo Arguesta (Los Angeles, Calif.).

Suffolk would then score three unanswered goals to cap their first victory of the season.

Niang scored the eventual game-winner with just twenty-three seconds remaining in the first half as he took a feed from freshman Alberto Benhamu (Caracas, Venezuela).

After a slow start to the second half the Rams got an offensive surge late in final eleven minutes of the contest.

Rollins tallied his second goal of the game in the 79th minute as he put home a header in front of the goal off of a feed from junior Jeff Williams (Geneva, Ill.), and Benhamu would seal the victory with his first career collegiate goal with five minutes remaining as he kicked a missile from thirty yards out to make a three-goal edge and 4-1 game.

Freshman Nicholas Chamma (Rio de Janero, Brazil) earned his first collegiate victory making three saves in goal.

Junior Stefan Todorovic (Los Angeles, Calif.) was busy in goal for the Pride as he stopped eight shots.

Regis College will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they host Fisher College at 4:30pm.

Suffolk will travel to UMass-Boston on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Beacons in non-conference action.
