Men's Soccer Roll Past Rivier, 9-2

Somerville, Mass – The Suffolk University Men's Soccer team (7-6-1, 4-2-1 GNAC) defeated the Rivier College Raiders (1-13, 0-7 GNAC) by a 9-2 score on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

The Rams made easy work of the Raiders, picking up their second GNAC win of the week. Sophomore Ben Rollins (Lee, N.H.) scored twice in the opening seven minutes of the game as the forward was returning to action for the first time in over a month from an injury.

Junior Danny Lloyd (Tegagucigalpa, Honduras) tallied his second hat trick in as many games and added an assist as the 2009 GNAC Player of the Year finished the week with six goals and three assists.

Freshman James Harvey (Reading, Mass.) scored his first career goal and added two assists, both on Rollins' first two goals on the day for the Rams. Harvey ran down the right side of the field after taking a pass from his brother, freshman Jeff Harvey (Reading, Mass.) scoring in the game's sixth-ninth minute.

Freshman Massogui Samb (Dakar, Senegal) also notched the first goal of his collegiate career in the contest.

Freshman goalkeeper Matt Esposito (Wallingford, Conn.) and senior goalkeeper Alex Capousis (Annapolis, Md.) each split net minding duties on the day. Both made two saves and allowed a goal in their respective halves of duty.

Senior Chris Nugent (Camberley Surrey, England) scored both goals for Rivier College.

The game was the last regular season home contest for the Rams who will finish up the regular season on the road next week. The Rams will travel to St. Joseph's (Me.) on Wednesday before finishing up the season at Norwich on Saturday.
