Salve Regina Snipes Men’s Hockey in Third Period, 6-4

EAST BOSTON – Three Seahawks goals in the third over an eight-minute span in the third period proved to be the difference as Suffolk men's hockey could not complete the comeback against Salve Regina and fell in the Commonwealth Coast Conference affair, 6-4, Friday night at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 4 | Salve Regina 6
RECORDS: Suffolk (5-16-2, 4-11-1 CCC) | Salve Regina (14-7-2, 9-5-2 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Salve Regina snuck onto the board 4:02 into the contest as Logan Calder lit the lamp and 2:34 later Suffolk leveled the playing field. Alex Pratt fired a one-time by the Seahawks goalie Cayden Bailey's blocker side shoulder. Devin Lowe and Joe O'Brien set up the game-opening Rams goal.

The Seahawks poured in a pair of unanswered to double the distance as the teams headed into the first intermission.

The Rams chipped down the deficit on the power play when Jack Kircher flicked the puck from the top the zone into the upper left the net 9:39 into the middle period. Passes from Lowe and Pratt led to Suffolk's second strike of the day.

Things evened at 34-all with just under four minutes left on the clock in the second period. With Matt Pimental station in front of the cage, Samuel Rand put a shot on target from the right-side blue line. Bailey denied the attempt and Pimental was there to pick up the pieces and tuck the rebound away to tie the game at the 16:01 mark.

SRU stormed out of the locker room and regained the lead 1:28 into the third. The Seahawks would find the back of the net twice more over the next 5:47 to put the Rams in a three-goal, 6-3, hole.

Olle Akermark got his name on the scoresheet with 29 seconds remaining in regulation from O'Brien and Carter Schram, to get the gap back to two, but there was not enough time for Suffolk to comeback.
