Men’s Hockey Comes Up Short in Season Finale at Wentworth, 2-1

EVERETT, Mass. – Suffolk men's hockey fell in a two-goal hole it never climbed out of as Wentworth skated past the Rams, 2-1, in the 2022-23 regular-season finale at Allied Veterans Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Josh Faussett lit the lamp 13:42 into the second period to give Wentworth the upper hand.  

Charlie Reid padded the margin 6:46 into the third period to force Suffolk into a two-goal deficit. 

Devin Lowe got Suffolk on the board with 2:49 left in regulation with help from Nick Lachaine to give the Rams a last bit of light. 

The Rams chances increased to tie things up with 59 seconds to go when the Leopards were whistled for too many men on the ice. Suffolk was unable to capitalize on the power play, however, as Jack McGovern scooped up the lone shot the blue-and-gold put on target over the final minute to seal Suffolk's setback.  

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Cal Wilcox denied 23 shots in the loss. 
  • McGovern registered 31 saves in the victory.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Lowe recorded Suffolk's only goal. 
  • Lachaine dished out the Rams' lone assist. 
  • Suffolk had the upper hand in shots, 32-25, and face offs, 41-30.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • All three of Suffolk's games with Wentworth this season ended via 2-1 decisions.
