BOSTON – Suffolk men's hockey gets the second portion of its 2022-23 scheduled underway Saturday, Jan. 7 when it entertains Franklin Pierce at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink at 6:50 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Griffin Clark leveled the playing field with 1:52 left in regulation and Suffolk men's hockey held the Golden Bears of Western New England in overtime to force the 1-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) draw Friday night at the Olympia Ice Center. Cole Scott was the only player to produce a goal in the three-round shootout to send the Rams into the semester break with an extra point in the league standings.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk holds a 1-7-2 record and looks for its second win of the season, first since a 6-3 decision at Nichols, Nov. 11, 2022.  

The Rams' 18-goal offense has been spread out. The trio of Ryan HarriganMax Rand and Ryan Webb lead the way with identical two-goal, three-assist stat lines. Griffin Clark (3g, 1a), Nick Lachaine (1g, 2a) and Devin Lowe(3a) have factored into the blue-and-gold's offensive output on multiple occasions as well. 

Cal Wilcox has played the bulk of time in net for Suffolk. He brings in a 3.32 GAA and .904 save percentage. Jarret Bovarnick has assembled a 4.20 GAA and .875 save percentage in his three appearances. 

RAVENS REVIEW
Franklin Pierce holds an 8-7-0 overall record. The Ravens ended their fall schedule with back-to-back setbacks at LIU.  

Conor Foley leads FPU's offense as the senior forward tops every offensive category with 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points. Chris Stevenson is second on the squad with 16 points on five marks and 11 set-ups. Cody Rumsey (2g, 9a) and Trevor Lawler (3g, 7a) have surpassed double digits in points as well. 

Kyle Martin is the usual goaltender for the Ravens. He holds a 3.10 GAA and .914 save percentage. Brogan McDonald (3.95 GAA, .927 save percentage) and Jeremy Connor (6.35 GAA, .865 save percentage) have taken the ice three times each.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Franklin Pierce renew a rivalry Saturday, meeting for the first time since Nov. 1, 2019. 
  • The Rams lead the series, 13-5-2, and have picked up back-to-back wins over the Ravens including a 3-2 victory in the last meeting. 
  • The Rams and Ravens have gone into overtime seven times with Suffolk holding a 3-2-2 all-time record against FPU in OT outings. 
  • The blue-and-gold has blanked FPU twice in the all-time series; a 1-0 cleansheet Feb. 14, 2017, and a 7-0 shutout Oct. 26, 2018.
