Wilcox Grabs CCC Goaltender of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Cal Wilcox of the Suffolk men's hockey team earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Goaltender of the Week after a solid two-game outing in between the pipes for the Rams, the league office unveiled Monday. Wilcox notched a .943 save percentage in the two-game weekend scattered over the games.

The junior from Pomfret, Connecticut, may have suffered the setback at then-No. 15 Endicott, 5-3, however, he racked up 65 saves in the process. The save total is the third-most by a goalie's gloves in NCAA Division III this year and ranks the most stops by a Suffolk netminder in the Rams' game-by-game record books, which date to the 1999-2000 season.

A day after Wilcox stood on his head, he turned aside 34 shots to earn a 3-1 win over Wentworth in Suffolk's regular-season finale.

The weekly award marks Wilcox's second of the season as he garnered the league's best goalie in a seven-day span Jan. 31. Overall, Suffolk owns four weekly awards with Wilcox responsible for two. Nick Lachaine and Samuel Rand hold the other two as they were named league's best player and rookie, respectively, Jan. 31.

With the regular-season concluded, Wilcox and the Rams are gearing up for the CCC postseason that sends fifth-seeded Suffolk to fourth-seed Curry for the quarterfinals Saturday, Feb. 26.
