CHARLESTOWN, Mass. – Nick Lachaine potted the game-winning goal with less than five minutes remaining in regulation to boost Suffolk men's hockey past No. 14 Endicott, 3-2, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Friday night at Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink.

HOW IT HAPPANED
Suffolk may have controlled the first period, outshooting the Gulls, 10-7, but it was Endicott that led after the first 20 minutes, 1-0.

The Rams managed to get back that tally early on the in the second thanks to Samuel Rand. Samuel Rand blocked a shot in Suffolk's zone, Shawn Montgomery picked up the pieces and zoomed down the ice on a near 2-on-1 with one Gulls' defender and Endicott goaltender Elijah Harris. Montgomery made a move to deke the defender for a one-on-one with Harris. The netminder made the save, but did not anticipate Samuel Rand's follow-up. The sophomore scored to even the playing field at one apiece 1:40 into the middle period.

Montgomery managed to put one of his own markers away at the 17:20 minute mark of the second. After the puck ping-ponged off of Gulls, Joe Feeney picked it up sent it to Montgomery for a one-timer over Harris' sticker shoulder. The senior's paired up to push Suffolk to a 2-1 advantage with 2:40 before the second intermission.

Suffolk found itself even with Endicott once again as Mitch Shaheen found the back of the net on the power play to level the playing field at 2-all six minutes into the final frame.

As time dwindled down, the Rams saw an opportunity with a man-up chance of their own when Matt Giroux was whistled for roughing at the 14:31 minute mark. Over halfway through the power play, the blue-and-gold worked the left-side of the Gulls zone waiting for the perfect time to attack. The puck passed from Devin Lowe down to Alex Kolowrat and over to Lachaine right in front for the junior to send it home with 4:02 left on the clock.

Cal Wilcox took care of business the rest of the way as he turned aside all four shots Endicott put on target to lock up the upset win.
