Men’s Hockey Sees 11 Collect AHCA All-America Scholar Honors

AHCA RELEASE 

BOSTON – The Suffolk men's hockey team had 11 players were honored as Krampade All-American Scholars by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) for the 2018-19 season.   

The 11 honors are the most for the blue-and-gold in the history of the award, upstaging the record 10, which was set in the inaugural year of the accolade, 2016-17. 

Overall, 963 names across Division II-III men and women earned the honor, joining 497 of their Division I counterparts, which received the recognition a month early, to total 1,460 student-athltes honors in the third year of the program.  

Connor Henryand Sean Henryappeared marked the list for the third consecutive time, while Nick Abbene, Mikhail BryanMatt Bucher and Brendan Heinze each earned the nod for the second time in their careers. Meanwhile, freshmen Joe FeeneyJohn GarritySean MontgomeryBilly Roche and junior Phil Kreuser were etched on the list for the first time.  

Suffolk's honorees were a part of 76 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) skaters recognized for their success inside the classroom by the national organization. The 11 Rams acknowledged tied for the most with Castleton and Johnson & Wales, who each saw 11 student-athletes take home the nod as well.  

To qualify for the award, a student-athlete must have attained at least a 3.6 grade point average over the 2018-19 academic year and participated in 40 percent of their respective contests. For a complete list of honorees, click here.
